A short girl’s guide to wearing long dresses

As a petite lady, I’ve heard the phrase “long dresses are not meant for short girls” way too often and I am always very conflicted with this statement. Any woman should be able to wear whatever make her feel beautiful and comfortable, and the height should not be a reason to limit oneself.

Long/maxi dresses are no exception. Here are some quick tips that in my opinion make a long dress great for short girls too:

  • Look for dresses that underline your waist. In that way you don’t lose the structure of your body.
  • Avoid bigger prints. By this I mean giant motives that give the optical illusion that you are even smaller.

Any woman should be able to wear whatever make her feel beautiful and comfortable, and the height should not be a reason to limit oneself.

  • I like wearing dresses that have an opening which allows you to show off some “gambettes” as the French would say (for those of us who speak English, we are talking about our beautiful legs).
  • If a dress is slightly longer than it should be, I like using a belt- helps me pull the dress a bit around the waist which makes the length perfect.

  1. Yes! I’m small as well so never know if long dresses suit me.
